Stephen Schwartz & Friends: DEFYING GRAVITY Benefit Concert Big Success!

On Friday, March 5, area residents filled the theatre at New Canaan Country School to experience, “Defying Gravity”, an awe inspiringperformance of the hit Broadway & Disney songs of Stephen Schwartz, sung passionately by Stephen Schwartz, Tony winner Debbie Gravitte and cabaret star Scott Coulter. In this concert to benefit the Summer Theatre of New Canaan, Stephen began by singing “Chanson” a song from THE BAKER’S WIFE, followed by Mr. Schwartz demonstrating the process that he went through to write “The Wizard and Me” for the Broadway show, WICKED. The evening continued with these three amazing artists performing a collection of magical songs with music and lyrics by Stephen or composed by Alan Menken with lyrics by Mr. Schwartz.
