Date Change NOW July 13-31
Be an actor in The Summer Theatre of New Canaan's Junior Company!
We've created this musical performance program just for middle school students entering grades 5-9. Junior Company cast will work with professional actors, director, choreographer, designers and crew from our company who will instruct, rehearse and help them put on their show.
All students who wish to participate must register and, if possible, attend the audition(s). The program is limited to the first 25 students who register. All students who register will be accepted into the company and cast in the show. Auditions are held to help the creative team for cast placement.

Wizard of Oz Audition process:
We are so looking forward to working with you this summer, and are excited to begin the audition process.
In the past we had auditioned in person, however this may not be possible this spring. So given that many professional auditions are done by self tape, we thought this would be a fun opportunity for our Jr. cast to hone these skills. The self tape will help our Wizard of Oz Director Chris Myers get to know you better. Final casting decisions will be made during the second day of production in July.
Sef tape instructions:
You will need a camera or a device that has a camera (smartphone, laptop…etc) internet connection, a musical track (karaoke style) or musical accompanist. If you don’t have access to music you can sing a cappella if needed.
When you film make sure that background noise is kept to a minimum and that the camera is at eye-level. The light source should be in front of the student (off camera) and try to film against a plain background.
Make sure the camera is stable.
Filming: Slate yourself meaning introduce yourself. Frame the shot chest up.
Please state: Your name, age, current grade, your height, theatrical experience, if you don’t have any theatrical experience things you like to do in your spare time. Do you have any special talents you can pull into the performance (do you play a musical instrument, are you an accomplished dancer, juggler…etc).
Next please perform roughly 30 to 60 seconds of a song preferably from a musical, but ok if not. Do your best to sing to a track or accompanimet. Also you can just sing a cappella.
Make sure that your entire body is filmed while singing.
Tuition covers all student's expenses.
50% deposit required to enroll.
